Irish Church Shrinks: Leo XIV De Facto Merges Two Dioceses

Today, Leo XIV appointed Bishop Gerard Nash, 67, as Bishop of Ossory while he remains also Bishop of Ferns. The pope united two neighboring Irish dioceses in persona episcopi.
Under this arrangement, both dioceses retain for now their separate legal identities but are entrusted to the same bishop.
Bishop Nash has led the Diocese of Ferns since 2021 and has served as Apostolic Administrator of Ossory since January 2026. Together, the two dioceses serve less than 200,000 Catholics.
The appointment marks another step in the ongoing restructuring of the shrinking Church in Ireland. The policy of diocesan consolidation is clearly expanding beyond western Ireland
While three previous in persona episcopi unions took place within the Ecclesiastical Province of Tuam in western Ireland, the union of Ferns and Ossory is the first outside that province.

Cardinal Zen: ‘Protection’ of the family a ‘primary mission’ for Church today

Joseph Cardinal Zen has urged Catholics to make protecting the family a “primary mission” in pastoral work, in order to fight back against a society that has lost an understanding of the “meaning of life”. In an essay published today on his blog, Cdl. Zen offered a commentary both on scripture and on the state of the Church in the world today. Such is his regular style, linking the sacred texts to a specific message, and this latest was no exception as he dwelled on the parable of the pearl of great price.

Private Masses During Spain's "Chartres" Pilgrimage: The picture shows the private Masses in the Roman Rite celebrated simultaneously by the priests attending the Pilgrimage to Covadonga, Spain last weekend. Nearly 2,000 pilgrims - mostly young people and families with children - took part in it. At the conclusion of the pilgrimage, permission was not granted to celebrate Mass in the Basilica of Covadonga. Instead, the pilgrims gathered to sing the Te Deum.

Depressive Former Medjugorje Believer Arrested for Vandalizing the Shrine

A 31-year-old Polish man, identified by regional media as Bartłomiej Włodzimierz Krakowiak, has been arrested for vandalizing the Marian shrine of Medjugorje during the night of 27–28 July, just days before Mladifest, which is expected to attract around 50,000 young pilgrims.
"Medjugorje Is a Deception"
The suspect allegedly poured black paint over statues of the Virgin Mary on Apparition Hill and at the Blue Cross, wrote "Devil in a skirt" on one statue. He hung banners accusing the six visionaries of being "frauds - I have proof", spray-painted slogans including "Medjugorje is a deception," "Only Jesus," and "Mary = devil," and set fire to the recently renovated outdoor altar behind St. James Church.
He was arrested hours later in Černo, near Ljubuški, heading toward the Croatian border.
Former Pilgrim
The case is particularly striking because the suspect had previously visited Medjugorje as a pilgrim. Regional media report that in 2017 he walked 1,300 km from Warsaw to the shrine, …Saleuwihna

Becoming Catholic at 98: World War II veteran joins the Church

A World War II Army veteran, Raymond “Ray” Martin Sr., has joined the Catholic Church at 98 years old. Before finding his way to the Church in Tucson, Arizona, Martin served in Okinawa, Japan, and in the Philippines; he then spent 27 years as a police officer in Illinois. Martin’s connection to Catholicism began with his late wife, Ann Marie. When Deacon Jacinto “Jack” Trevino, a hospice chaplain and parochial associate at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in the Diocese of Tucson, met with Martin in December 2025, the two bonded over a shared background in law enforcement and spoke about his wife and her faith. “Ray is an amazing person,” Trevino told EWTN News. “We hit it off from the beginning. We talked about the job a lot — and shared some laughs.” It wasn’t all laughs, though. As they got to know each other, their conversations grew serious. “Ray talked about his wife, who passed,” Trevino recalled. “He said she was Catholic and he would attend Mass with her and pray the rosary.” “One day …

Fauci played a role in study that grafted aborted baby scalps onto rats

(LifeSiteNews) Under Fauci’s leadership, the NIAID approved funding for horrific experiments that involved grafting aborted babies’ scalps onto the backs of lab rats, pro-lifer David Daleiden noted.
Just hours before Dr. Anthony Fauci is to appear before a Senate hearing chaired by Sen. Rand Paul, pro-life hero David Daleiden took to social media to highlight the link between the former COVID chief and a horrifying study sponsored by his NIH agency — the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) — in which aborted baby scalps were grafted onto lab rats.
“Dr. Fauci copied a cover-up headline into his diary disputing his role in a study that grafted 5-month aborted baby scalps onto lab rats,” noted Daleiden, yet, “3 weeks earlier, Fauci swore to Congress his NIAID funded the study ‘with the appropriate oversight and guidelines.'”
“You can actually see the photographs in the published study of little baby scalps grafted onto the backs of lab rats growing little baby …Saleuwihna

Washington Cardinal "Allows" Female Preaching - Report

Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington D.C. authorised monthly lay "commentary" during the Eucharist at the Jesuit parish of Holy Trinity in Georgetown, according to BigModernism.Substack.com (July 28).
The blog published a letter dated 4 February 2026 and signed by Fr James Casciotti, SJ. The letter responds to concerns raised by a correspondent about the parish's liturgical practices.
Fr Casciotti addresses several issues, including chatting until just before the Eucharist.
The key passage states: "You should know that the Cardinal has given permission for lay commentary once a month at Holy Trinity [...]".
The letter does not identify the cardinal by name. In February 2026, Cardinal Robert McElroy was Archbishop of Washington, having been appointed in January 2025 and installed in March 2025.
Separately, the blog cites a firsthand account from a reader alleging that the practice involved a woman delivering what functioned as the homily during Mass under the name "commentary." According …Saleuwihna

Peter was crucified upside down I wonder what going to happen when Nero gets tired of this puppet . Should never borrowed money ( usuary) from that family ran bank.
Yes, the Holy See historically borrowed money from the Rothschild family during the 19th century (decades before the modern Vatican Bank, the Institute for the Works of Religion, was formally founded in 1942). [1, 2, 3, 4]
Historical Loans
First Loan (1832):
Arranged during the pontificate of Pope Gregory XVI for £400,000 (involving James Mayer de Rothschild and Carl Mayer von Rothschild) to help stabilize papal finances after the Napoleonic Wars. [1]
Second Loan (1850s): Issued during the pontificate of Pope Pius IX following the collapse of the Roman Republic to provide immediate liquidity and cover state debts. [1, 2]

James de Rothschild effectively became a key financial agent for the Holy See, and 19th-century reference books like the Jewish Encyclopedia even dubbed the family the "…Saleuwihna

Our Anglican "brethren" at Wells Cathedral (which was Catholic until the time of Henry VIII) have decided to stage an exhibition of "Mythical Creatures," based on a 17th-century book held in their library. Particularly striking is a fifteen-meter-long dragon—sporting rainbow colors—that soars above the few elderly congregants, baring its menacing claws at them. It serves as a true parable of what awaits us Catholics if we remain passive in the face of the brazen advance of the hierarchical "Pink Lobby."
(It is astonishing to see the degree of confusion among some of the faithful—such as the person who wrote on a tag: "Dear dragon: always be kind and generous to entire human kind." As if we didn't know what the dragon symbolizes!)

German Archbishop: Homosexual March Is "Joyful and Moving Celebration"

Berlin’s homosex march 'Christopher Street Day' is a “joyful and moving celebration.” That is what pro-homosexual Archbishop Heiner Koch of Berlin told KNA on Sunday. He spoke after an attack on the march on Saturday evening.
One woman was killed, and at least 31 others were injured, some of them seriously.
The attacker, Abdul B., 21, drove a car into the crowd and was later - conveniently for the justice system and politicians - shot dead during a police operation.
The full context of Archbishop Koch's statement is: "How terrible! To brutally destroy such a joyful and moving celebration. We keep all the victims, their families, friends, and everyone whose joy has been taken away by hatred in our prayers. Hatred must not prevail."
Abdul B. was born in Berlin in 2005 and grew up there. His parents are from Lebanon, and he held German citizenship. His family belongs to a large extended clan. He had been known to the security authorities for years and was considered part of the Islamist …Saleuwihna

Leo XIV Ratified Another Chinese Regime Bishop

Today, Rev. Francis Xavier Duan Yongkun, 45, was consecrated a bishop. The Vatican announced only today that Pope Leo XIV had appointed him on June 15 as Coadjutor Bishop of Bameng, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China.
For the previous three episcopal appointments in China, the regime publicly announced the election of the bishop-designate before the Holy See. In today's case, no comparable notice about the Chinese selection process has been released.
Underground Bishop chose recognition
The Diocese of Bameng (40,000 Catholics, 30 priests, 20 religious sisters) is not vacant.
The current bishop, Matthew Du Jiang, is only 63 years old. He was consecrated for the Catholic underground Church in 2004 and officially recognized by the Chinese authorities as bishop in 2010. As part of the recognition process, he was required to participate in an installation ceremony concelebrated with Bishop Ma Yinglin of Kunming, then a leading figure in the Chinese state church. Rev. Gerald Murray Questions Vatican's Rupnik Trial: The New York-based canon lawyer criticises the lack of transparency in the Vatican's canonical trial against Marko Rupnik. "Why don't we know who the judges are?" he asked talking to Raymond Arroyo on 25 July. Rev Murray also pointed out that "we don't know which charges" are being levelled against Rupnik.
